In Hungary 80% of women aged 18 to 34 have experienced sexual harassment at a party place. Neither the authorities nor society truly cares about it. The government declined to ratify the Istanbul Convention that aims legally to prevent gender-based violence. We have turned regular reusable cups into a nonverbal communication device to give a tool at hand to express refusal: NO means NO! The Refuse Cup was created with the support of NANE, Women for Women Together Against Violence Association to stop the unwanted approach immediately at party places. It also draws the attention of those around you thereby provides a supportive presence.Refuse Cup was introduced in 3 popular party places in Budapest backed by a charity platform, where people could support the association's work by scanning a QR code on the cup. Celebrities and music influencers who were personally involved in the subject supported the cause by telling their own stories. Most importantly the association launches educational trainings for security services to identify and treat harassment. The Refuse Cup can be ordered and re-ordered at any time, because it has become part of the permanent portfolio of Cup Revolution, the market-leader distributor and manufacturer of reusable cups.
