Tristyn began his directing career shadowing Velocity’s founding partner and world renowned director, Keith Rose. After graduating from AFDA film school, the young enthusiast started out as Keith’s assistant at Velocity in order to understand more about what it takes to work behind the lens.Tristyn’s debut television commercial was for the Organ Donor Foundation. The finished product, Leila, proved to be his professional breakthrough into the industry: winning silver and bronze Clio awards as well as a nomination for the Shots Young Director award at Cannes Lions 2012. Since then, he has collaborated with a diverse range of clients such as Texa, Jacobs, Virgin, NSRI and most recently SAA.Executive Producer Peter Carr says that “before Tristyn moved into film directing, he spent 7 years not only contributing to Keith's work but he took his time learning and drawing from the vast experience of a master director. During that learning curve, he's become very familiar with working amongst top end agencies doing top end creative work, which counts hugely towards the values he now brings to his own work. “Tristyn’s passion for the film industry and respect for his audience is evident in his work: he is deeply committed to delivering commercials that are emotive, humorous and cathartic. He loves work that looks and feels real and is an inspiration for fellow film enthusiasts.
